Cheyenne Village provides outstanding Group Home Services in Colorado Springs!

 In Cheyenne Village Blog

Did you know that Cheyenne Village, the oldest provider of residential services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Colorado Springs, has the only group home for the I/DD community in the Springs? While we provide a wide array of other residential options (including host home providers, family caregivers, PCA [Personal Care Alternative] homes, and support for individuals in their own apartments), the group home setting is unique.

If you or a loved one are supported via the DD (Developmental Disabilities) HCBS (Home and Community Based Services) Medicaid waiver, and have higher support needs, this may be the right option for you!

Under the DD HCBS Medicaid Waiver, you are eligible to receive residential services. Most services fall under the IRSS (Individualized Residential Services and Supports) category. These are small scale settings where individuals live either on their own or in residences with no more than 3 individuals receiving services on the premises. Staff may be intermittently present, depending on supervision and support needs.

However, if you or your loved one have greater needs, GRSS (Group Residential Services and Supports) may be appropriate. GRSS services can be provided in a facility with 4 to 8 residents, and have staff onsite and awake 24-7. Typically, when someone requires more in-depth supervision for safety, greater hands-on care or is more medically complex, GRSS services may be appropriate.

Our group home is not only unique in the Colorado Springs area, but is also truly a beautiful home. We support up to 6 individuals in a warm, sunlit, inviting environment, tucked into a safe and quiet neighborhood. Like all of Cheyenne Village’s staff, our group home is staffed by highly trained direct support professionals, residential coordinators, and overseen by a dedicated team lead who ensure only the highest level of care. The love and support provided here is outstanding!

Please reach out to Cheyenne Village if you have questions, or if you feel that this residential setting may be appropriate for you or a loved one. We’d be more than happy to answer any questions, and assist you in getting the support you need! Check out www.cheyennevillage.org or call us – 719-592-0200.
